The Great Escape Prison Break UPDATE: We did it (and survived to tell the tale)!
The Great Escape Prison Break Inmates (Left to right: Helen, Ann, Eilidh & Nichola)

All three of Equalizer’s daredevil inmates (Ann, Nichola and Helen) plus their brave hostage (Eilidh) risked it all in their bid for freedom to successfully meet The Great Escape Prison Break challenge (and, for two of the team, conquer their fear of heights… for the day at least). In the process they managed to raise a grand total of 820GBP for The Fly Cup smashing their original target of 700GBP!

The event, organised by local company George Walker Event Management Ltd, was held at the Old Prison Building in Peterhead on Sunday 23rd April.  It was a great afternoon, if initially slightly nerve wracking for some, which started off with meeting a few of the people from The Fly Cup before having our mug shots taken for posterity. After the photo shoot, we were set up in our harnesses (Fifty Shades of Safety apparently!), supplied with gloves and helmets before setting off for the escape tower… all 60ft (18.3m) of it!

Within an hour it was all over. Having been aided and abetted by a very patient and reassuring trio from Glasgow Climbing Centre, Team Equalizer was back on terra firma with big smiles and a huge sense of achievement.

Many thanks to everyone who sponsored the team and helped them raise money for such a worthy cause.
